Shoreditch Art Exhibition – 21st Century Breakdown – the Art of Rock

greendayartproject2I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening night of this exhibition at the StolenSpace Gallery at the Truman Brewery.  Created by Green Day’s manager, who apparently is an art lover, he commissioned 21 original pieces of art inspired by music from Green Day’s latest album, 21st Century breakdown.  It was a lovely funky laid back gallery and a couple of members of the band were there (the one with the spikey hair and the other one who’s not the lead singer), as well as some East London arty types and fans of the band.  I liked a lot of the paintings – especially the portraits of the band and one of a bird pulling at a grenade.  I liked the combination of music and art and the passion involved in the project, well worth a look.
